Scientists from the International League of Dermatological Communities and the American Academy of Dermatology have jointly discovered a new and unexpected symptom of the coronavirus. Reported by The Telegraph.
People who become infected with COVID-19 may develop irritation on their toes, in which the fingers become very red. Symptoms are similar to frostbite, it lasts one to four weeks and can lead to swollen feet.
Experts noted that in some patients the symptom persisted for several months. However, in most cases, the symptom is mild.
According to the publication, in the International COVID-19 dermatological register, patients with coronavirus who have experienced similar cases have also been registered. About half of these patients experienced foot inflammation, and about 16 percent of them were hospitalized.
Earlier, scientists concluded that the coronavirus continues to infect the internal organs of a person after his recovery. The corresponding study was carried out by specialists from the Department of Fundamental Medicine of the Far Eastern Federal University (FEFU), together with scientists from the Pacific State Medical University and Japanese colleagues. They concluded that SARS-CoV-2 can attack the red bone marrow.
