Chennai: 95% Covid patients discharged, people asked to stay alert to avoid recurrence – Times Now

Chennai: In major good news for the city, ninety-five per cent of the coronavirus patients have now been discharged as of October 31. Not only that, the number of active cases in the city is now just three per cent.

‘Daily cases could decrease if this trend continues’

Experts feel that if this continues, it could mean a massive decrease in the number of daily coronavirus cases in the city. It was also said that the positivity rate of five would mean that the virus is being contained well in the city.well.

In another positive, the experts have also confirmed that the number of deaths has gone down in the city as well. They said that there have also been days when the city has recorded cases in single digits.

‘People still need to be careful’

However, the city is bracing itself for the upsurge of cases that Diwali could bring along. The officials have been making their best efforts to make people understand the importance as well as the need of staying alert during this time.

The public health officials have been warning the people of the city against putting their guards down and said that the virus is still serious and any lack of taking precautions could ultimately result in the recurrence in the number of cases.
