COVID vaccination guidelines eased for pregnant, breastfeeding women, cancer patients – Yahoo News

SINGAPORE — COVID-19 vaccination guidelines in Singapore have been eased for pregnant women, breastfeeding women, cancer patients currently receiving treatment, and persons who have previously suffered severe skin allergy reactions to medications.  The Expert Committee on COVID-19 Vaccination (EC19V) has been monitoring evidence and developments around the world and has revised its guidelines accordingly, the multi-ministry taskforce (MTF) on the pandemic said at a virtual press briefing on Monday (31 May). There was no evidence to suggest that the Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna COVID-19 vaccines may cause harm to pregnant women or their babies, the MTF stated. However, the committee noted that the amount of data collected on the population segment was still much smaller compared to data on t...

Heres How Moderna Plans to Beat the Biggest Threat to Its Vaccine – The Motley Fool

Moderna's (NASDAQ:MRNA) vaccine is successfully helping people avoid the coronavirus. The billion-dollar product has demonstrated more than 90% efficacy in adults. And new data show it's 100% effective in teens. But Moderna faces one big challenge that could wreak havoc on how well its vaccine protects the population. And that's the rapid emergence of variants. The vaccine has handled them so far. Moderna even says one of its booster candidates may be ready by fall. One of the candidates specifically targets the South African variant. Holiday count of new cases falls to 42, with no additional deaths – Press Herald

Maine health officials reported just 42 new cases of COVID-19 on Monday, the lowest daily total since last fall, and no additional deaths. It was the second straight day of fewer than 100 cases and the 11th consecutive day of cases below 175, an increasingly positive sign that steady progress on vaccinations could keep additional virus spread at bay as summer approaches. There haven’t been any additional deaths reported in five days. Monday’s total likely was affected by lower testing volume over the holiday weekend, but nevertheless, the seven-day average now sits at 101,  which is the lowest since early November. That’s down from 244 cases two weeks ago and down from a spring high of 479 cases on April 17. Since the pandemic reached Maine in March 2020, there have been 67,780 ...
